It has been recently confirmed that the Motorola Milestone XT720 handset is going to be in store shelves in the UK as of Monday this week. For those of you who passed up on the original launch of the Motorola Milestone because the slide out QWERTY keyboard is not that good for your usage patterns, then the XT 720 might just fit your needs.

The Android smart phone lets go of the signature keyboard that has made the Milestone a successful handset. Of course, the device gets a pretty nifty trade-off for such an important hardware feature; the new handset comes with a better 8 mega pixel camera and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

With regards to other specs, the XT 720 is pretty identical to the original Milestone handset. Even the form factor is also the same –which is a great thing as the original Milestone is a breathtakingly beautiful smart phone with its angled lines, matte coating and futuristic looking shape.

The screen is a 3.7 inch TFT capacitive touch screen display that provides users with 480 x 854 pixels of resolution, an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. The overall visual quality that the device provides is good, though we would have proffered an upgrade to an OLED screen for the HD output.

As one might expect, this phone sports all the basic features; WiFi, 3G, 2G, Bluetooth, GPS and the rest. The only thing users will need to be aware of is that the handset only comes with 150 MB of internal memory so having a micro SD card is important. The device will support up to 32 GB cards and the device comes packed with a 2 GB card.

As one might expect, the new handset is running the Android 2.1 Éclair though we can expect an upgrade for version 2.2 to be released soon.

Intermedia, the biggest Microsoft Hosting Exchange Provider in the world has announced that the latest Motorola innovation, Motorola DROID will be supported by its services, which also include Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010. DROID, which has recently been launched by its vendor, is unique as it supports Android 2.0.

Intermedia has declared that now mobile-users will be able to experience Enterprise-grade Exchange Services just like they experience at their workplace, as they have made the all-new DROID compatible with the Exchange Solution of ActiveSync offered by Microsoft. Intermedia, as the leader in the industry, is already providing Exchange solutions such as emailing, calendar management and quick messaging facilities to users of other devices such as Samsung Blackjack, Motorola Q, Palm Treo and iPhones.

During the exciting announcement made by Intermedia, Jonathan McCormick, CEO of the company said that there are many workers who need the same level of Enterprise-grade Exchange as they receive at their work place while they are traveling. With Intermedia’s support for Motorola DROID, more and more users using various brands of mobiles can now get the same Enterprise-grade experience during traveling as they get when they are in their offices with the use of their hosted Exchange services.

Intermedia also announced to the public that it offers customers, BlackBerry Exchange Solutions or BES which gives them the luxury to have connectivity on the road so that they can check their email using wireless-push. And on top of that, users also reap the benefits of two-way syncing as it gives them access to calendar, tasks and email. The announcement of Intermedia’s “BlackBerry Wireless Solution hosting for hosted Exchange” is great news for BlackBerry users as they will get great Exchange solutions while they’re on the go.

Intermedia mentioned that as the HostPilot Control Panel is offered through its Exchange 2007 and 2010, organizations will have a greater degree of protection and command over their devices. With the help of this feature, companies can instantly erase data from a lost device by their user in order to sustain security measures.

At the start of 2009 Google made public their belief that the third and fourth quarters were likely to see the unveiling of more Android mobile phones, and it seems they hit the nail squarely on the head.

On September 10th and September 15th Motorola unveiled its new Android phone models in the US and the UK, respectively.

Rumour mills on the internet have long been abuzz with talk speculating that Motorola was planning the release, although the fact they took so long about it compared to various other companies saw these rumours eventually die down.

The past few years Motorola has struggled tremendously, as it has been greatly unable to compete with other companies, predominantly Apple and Nokia, and on the new Android models rest their hopes for finally getting back into the game.

Pictures have been floating around online recently of the Motorola “Shules”, which is rumoured to have a release date set sometime in October this year. It will boast a QWERTY keyboard and touch screen in a flip design, causing it to resemble a PDA – iPhone hybrid until opened up.

The fact it has now been confirmed begs the question of which other models we can expect to see before the year is out, and although speculation abounds the next Android mobile to come from Motorola will be the “Morrison”, any details are yet to be confirmed.

The true boost to Motorola’s reputation, and thus their sales, will come if the widely accepted as fact rumours are confirmed; that the Shules and Morrison will both be available of plans well below $100 per month.

With their buttoned keyboards and navigation keys alongside the option of using the touch screen they have the potential to pick up any disillusioned iPhone users in search of greater versatility.

Pictures can be found at TechradarWhich.co.uk.
